Turkish and English Preparatory Education

Article 12- (1) Enrolled students are directed to Turkish and/or English preparatory units according to their status.
a) English preparatory class is compulsory for students enrolled in 100% or 30% English programs.  (Students enrolled in the relevant program, are subject to Karabük University School of Foreign Languages, Department of Foreign Languages Education and Examination Directive regarding English preparatory education and exemption).
b) Turkish preparatory class is compulsory for students enrolled in 30% English and Turkish programs.
c) Students enrolled in 100% English programs, who are successful or exempt from the English preparatory class, can take the department courses simultaneously with their Turkish preparatory education. Students enrolled in the program whose medium of instruction is 100% English cannot graduate until their Turkish language level is B2 according to the European Union Language Portfolio (European Language Passport) criteria. ç) Turkish Language Course Certificate Documents from Yunus Emre Institute or Turkish state universities for students who want to be exempt from Turkish Preparatory Education with a document, The transcript documents of those who have successfully completed 4 (four) years of Turkish formal education in high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and the transcript documents of those who have successfully completed 4 (four) years of Turkish formal education in high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and the transcript documents of those who have successfully completed 4 (four) years of Turkish formal education in high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and the transcript documents of those who have successfully completed 4 (four) years of Turkish formal education in associate degree (2 years) and bachelor's degree (4 years) programs of state universities in Turkey and are entitled to receive a diploma, and the success / proficiency certificates of students who are successful in the Turkish Proficiency Exams conducted by Yunus Emre Institute (at least 60 points out of 100, C1 level) are valid.
d) Certificates from Yunus Emre Institute or State universities must have been obtained within the last 4 (four) years as of the date of enrollment at the university.
e) Those who are unable to submit their language level at the required level must take the exemption and level determination exam conducted by TÖMER.
f) Turkish proficiency levels are determined according to the results of the Turkish Exemption Exam conducted by TÖMER. This exam is conducted by TÖMER.
g) Students who fail to complete the Turkish and/or English preparatory education within two years are dismissed from the university.
